god

Dear Friends,

Something on re-creation and pro-creation is coming your way. Look for my comments at the end....

"Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it." (Prov 22:6)

Who would have ever thought that as a freshman in high school, I was a member of the Future Farmers of America? Come on, me a Future Farmer?  Just the thought of me being the future of farming, meant food production was in serious jeopardy. I have to grin when I think of it.  What motivated me to be a member of that group is still a mystery. Listen, I’m not dissing the FFA. I just can’t seem to recall why I joined, especially since there were no girls involved. Yes, I did have a wide variety of interests but thoughts of pursuing girls were on the top of my list. Let’s face reality. All of us want to think that our teenage sons or grandsons are the exceptions. They are the most mature, idealistic and visionary individuals on the planet. Oh, you may think that foremost on their mind is the Heisman trophy, discovering the cure for  cancer, or building the biggest skyscraper in the world. But in reality, at fifteen years old, there is really only one thing on a boys mind. Now, before we assign blame or guilt, remember it was God’s idea. The discovery of the opposite sex is a good thing. Now when I witness raging hormones and the goofiness of an adolescent, I am comforted to know the human race will never die out.

Of course, like the handling of dynamite and other explosives, which require extensive training and strict guidelines for its use, young men and women need guidance in their newly discovered desires. If not, what was intended for good can be destructive and dangerous. Before the days that government felt it was their duty and obligation to instruct our children in such matters, Parents took responsibility. I’ll never forget my dad having his infamous “man talk” with me. As a young teen, I sat quietly at the kitchen table as we both endured his seemingly endless illustrations and analogies of how we got here. He really didn’t explain much I didn’t already know but I didn’t want to spoil his moment by filling him in on the details. So, I sat wide-eyed and attentive. I think it was the first time I ever saw my father blush. Objectively, if the information he presented was put in print as an instruction manual, I think there would be genuine fear of the race dying out. My dad never brought up the subject again. Only periodically, when we were watching TV when two people kissed on the screen, would he glance my way, from his favorite chair and say in a soft voice, “remember our talk?” I would nod in the affirmative which made him proud that he had set me on the straight and narrow.  I have to say one thing about my dad, at least he tried. My parents were from the World War II generation, who were trained and educated in a morality which was understood. Even though he was not a Christian, there was a general sense of right and wrong.

Wow, have things changed. The 1960’s generation of hippies, free love and amorality are now grandparents and their children’s children are the beneficiaries of their dumping of God’s absolutes. With no objective source or foundation of right and wrong, is it any wonder young people are confused? Our world is now morally rotten to the core. Children andteens are fully exposed to the vilest of pornography, sometimes streaming live on their personal computers. “Hook-ups” is a term used these days for casual sexual encounters among young people and it’s not considered a big deal anymore to have sex on a first date. Naturally, with an out of control morality comes epidemic abortion, teen pregnancy and disease.

According to a report in The New York Times, Unmarried mothers gave birth to 4 out of every 10 babies born in the United States.” The only “absolute” today is the promotion that youth need to find their “Sexual identity.” According to the “experts” on this subject, this “discovery” is only found by experimentation with various sexual partners and same-sex trysts.

Is there an answer for spiraling moral decay? Yes, and the answer is simple yet profound. If all else fails, we must go back to the original instruction manual. God, who is the maker of all things, gave us written instructions on how it all works. I summed them up in two sentences: Sex is a wonderful and even spiritual activity created by God for pleasure and pro-creation. It is reserved only for a man and a woman in a covenant relationship and anything outside of this axiom is dangerous and destructive.  That’s it. “Experts” will scoff at these simple instructions from God’s Word as “Victorian,” “homophobic” or “archaic.” However, whether one believes in God or not, if followed, these simple statements would completely end much of the heartache and problems that are associated with relationships.

Parents, we cannot escape the mandate from God Himself to teach our children. Not only are we to teach them the things of God regarding salvation, honesty and good character, but especially are we to teach them God’s standards regarding relationships. We are the ones, not government, who are responsible to instruct them. Don’t put it off and don’t leave it to others. Don’t think they are too young to begin to introduce simple concepts regarding sexuality. Ask God for wisdom on how to teach them. The only way to stem the tide of immorality in this generation is to teach God’s morality. Let it begin in our children.

"Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it."

Dear Friends,

Just one more dimension...

"Because iniquity shall be multiplied, the love of the many shall wax cold"
(Matt. 24:12 R.V.)

Moral decay every where? Signs of the imminent II Coming of the Lord?
The world going back to the days of rampant sinning of Noah's times (Luke 17:26) before the Lord's II Coming? Be that as it may,
how about ensuring maximal circulation of this mail on “God-given Recreation and Procreation under

Gods word

"For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." (Col 1:13-14)

All of us love to watch dramatic rescues on television. If one happens, networks will break into regular programming, allowing us to view it and be involved. There is something in us which desires to see someone rescued from certain death. A few weeks ago, we watched the rescue of thirty-three men from a mine in Chile. It was estimated that more than 10 million people watched CNNFox News, and MSNBC as the two-month ordeal ended for the men trapped underground. It was a triumph for technology and endurance.  We watched with eager anticipation, as the miners, one by one were brought to the earth’s surface. After it was over, we breathed a collective sigh of relief and almost felt we were a part of the drama.

Our coal miners here in West Virginia know what it’s like to be underground, often in darkness, living with the constant reminder of how dangerous their work is. My only experience with this kind of darkness was a family trip to Kentucky to visit Mammoth Cave National Park. Deep under the earth our guide treated us to what it was like to experience total darkness. When the lights were turned off, you literally could not see your hand in front of your face. A few seconds of complete darkness was fun, a minute or two was unnerving. Imagine being trapped in that kind of darkness an extended period?

The Bible describes the state of human beings as one of darkness, where people exist under “the dominion of darkness.”Dominion is an old word that relates to authority, rule and ownership. Hollywood has borrowed “darkness” themes, fictionalizing them, creating dark fantasy worlds on screen. Because of a proliferation of these themes, modern thinkers will not even allow serious discussion about the demonic world without mocking, snickering or comparing it to some popular movie. However, for those of us who believe God’s Word, we know it is not fantasy but reality. Satan is not a mythical character wearing a red union suit and carrying a pitchfork but a cunning, intelligent creature who is in the business of deceit and destruction.

One of his greatest covers is atheism. He is the one behind this new trendy atheistic movement. A few years ago the only prominent atheists were revolting figures like Madelyn Murray O’Hare and her ilk. Now it’s cool and hip to be an atheist. Satan through his craftiness has convinced many there is no God and if that is a “forgone conclusion,” certainly, there could not be a devil.  It’s a win-win.

As in a dark cave, the absence of light requires one to be led by whoever seems to know the way. In Satan’s case, he leads, but only by stealth. He has convinced a generation that they are independent, savvy and walking in their own intellectual light. Yet, all the time, they are enslaved under his “dominion of darkness.”

What is not reported in the news is a dramatic, full-time ongoing rescue effort, which rarely makes the cut for primetime. These rescues are not through clever technology or man’s wisdom, but through the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. With the aid of a multitude of nameless heroes, Jesus rescues people from the “dominion of darkness,” freeing them from the slavery of Satan. Now liberated from the power of sin, they enjoy forgiveness, “eternal life” and a purpose for living.

That is the greatest rescue of all!

Dear Friends,

Did you know that President Sebastian Pinera of Chile was himself right there hugging them passionately when the miners emerged one by one from the "Dark pit" ? And now what about our "President" Lord Jesus Christ? He went straight into the pit, experiencing the darkness himself, in order we see light! Amazing grace, isn't it? If that doesn't inspire an "Hallelujah" from you, nothing else will.

Without leaving this devo "trapped in your own system" now how about circulating it to one and all including those at the "ends of the World"...including some friends in Chile? By the way, do you know Chile is at the "ends of the World"?
